… checked out some favourite haunts…
… in a few days, the human might cease to exist. This will mean that I will cease to exist. This will mean FlutterBye will cease to exist.
We both really want that not to happen.

I can understand you are scared. But the best way to survive and heal is having a reason to live on and if your human has one very good reason (among others) it is YOU! I am sure you will come back. You have to trust the surgeons. They will fight for your life. Sending you a big hug!
