In the Ruins

I went to Soul Deep, yesterday, just on sunset…

… I was showing off my legs, with my new skimpy shorts…

… because I have new ink that I love…

… I was in a playful mood…

… teetering around on rocks in the water…

… like the big kid I am…

… feeling like a nymph in a Maxfield Parrish painting (:

Night Light

During my midnight camera-drone jaunt, the other night, I realised that the bottom of the steps from my wild garden to my managed garden were pretty dangerously dark for anyone not familiar with what was where…

… so I installed some of my trusty Japanese stone lanterns and a bit more paving, so the path was more obvious and manageable from the bottom of the stairs to the old path that used to run down the side of my chateau, before I pulled the chateau down, and let nature run wild in what was left of it’s footprint…

… the lights and extra paving work really well. After I took these pictures, I went for another midnight camera stroll…

… there’s lots of sweet fauna amongst my flora…

… this little Fae and her friend come most nights…

… and sit here, endlessly entranced by the water running into the bucket from the fountain. The bucket is plumbed back to the fountain, so it never fills up, but is always filling. Perhaps the Fae and her friend don’t know this, and think the bucket is a magical thing?…

… a fox has recently made a den under some rocks. If you are patient…

… she will come out and scan the area…

… making sure it’s safe for her pups to come out…

… and play.

Midnight in my Yard

I needed to recalibrate the gyros on my camera drone…

… and make sure it’s night-time pathfinding abilities were still accurate…

… so I went on a midnight spin with it, last night…

… gliding silently through my little, magical Queendom…

… checking out the nightlife…

… the beautiful things that I protect…

… who have always been safe here…

… sleeping peacefully in their beds…

… not even noticing as my nano-drone hovers silently around them…

… my drone’s senses picked up every little rustle, every chirping night insect…

… I zeroed in on my wonderful little Fae-on-a-toadstool…

… she was contentedly looking at the stars.

A Dawn Stroll Through Bay City

I started my morning in a cute little Bay City gallery

… then went out into the dawn…

… for a stroll around…

… it’s a while since I’ve wandered around Bay City…

… don’t know if it was just the light, but the place was looking really nice…

… the buses were even running, this early in the day…

… the sun through the clouds was like a gorgeous, smouldering ember…

… one of the things I love about Bay City is that you seem able to go most places…

… without getting some crappy message telling you to piss off…

… by the time I actually did get one of those messages…

… I’d been strolling for hours, had over four hundred pictures, and just TP’d home.

Art From the Trenches

More images from my valiant struggle to explore and shop and document…

… so many beautiful little scenes…

… places to meditate…

… so much to learn. Did you know there are Chicken Centaurs?… me, neither…

… most of the great scenery was on sim/shopping area crossings, artistic little oases…

… my hands-down favourite of all the areas, was Valhalla…

… it is absolutely magnificent…

… a stunning tribute to Norse grandeur and the scale of mythology…

… very cool…

… really impressed with this build…

… epic (:

Fantasy Faire 2021

I finally made it to this years Fantasy Faire a few days ago, and have been chipping away at it, a bit at a time, since then. They are always so big, and often confusing, so they are always, for me, serious shopping missions, I tend to just put my head down and wade on in, so I don’t usually take pictures. But I kept seeing amazing scenes and places, so, today, I started taking pictures…

… each day I’ve managed to find some nice stuff to buy. Today I bought this gorgeous crown of thorns with roses…

… there are some stunning locations to see…

… like this one by a famous SL artist whose name I forget…

… my outfit matched the scenery perfectly…

… I’m not sure there were even any shops in this one…

… there was a cave with this scene in it, the same style as the outside…

… but in colours I’ve never seen this artist use, before.

La Vallée Crush

Seems I have a bit of a crush on La Vallée. I came back in the dawn light, this morning, to explore some more…

… the whole sim is actually a showcase for a building system…

… one that gives you builds with this level of phenomenal depth to the landscape…

… I absolutely love it…

… such a rich little world-in-a-bubble, a world from a fantasy novel, hidden in a pocket of time and matter, somewhere in matter and time…

… you know you’ve been here before, long ago, you just can’t remember how far ago in time that was…

… the centuries blur together, turn to dust, and blow away, down the corridor of dimensions…

… yet you are always here…

… waiting…

… with the foxes.

La Vallée

I visited La Vallée, today. This is a very pretty build…

… with tons of beautiful settings…

… in which to take gorgeous pictures…

… the sense of scale here is fabulous…

… providing plenty of deep vistas…

… I went with the ‘shared’ environment lighting…

… which gave me these wonderful Kodachrome images…

… this is a destination well worth visiting…

… enough to make any photographer smile (:

Insilico Revitalised

I must have missed the memo that said Insilico was being remodelled, but, there you are, I did. I recently blogged about Insilico Mars, which I only recently discovered, despite being extremely familiar with Insilico, having hung out there, regularly, for years. I have to admit to not having been there for, at least, seven months, because it never changed. It was cool, but always the same, for a long time. Suddenly, when you TP there, you arrive in this very cool ‘Welcome Centre’, which simply didn’t exist, a year ago…

… from there, you can TP to various stunning locals that also, I’m pretty sure, didn’t exist a year ago. A year ago, once you got out of the central arrival area, with it’s shopping area, things got dull, pretty quickly. That isn’t the case, now…

… there are all kinds of gorgeous locations, now, I simply do not remember seeing/being able to access, a year ago…

… it was nice to eventually find the old shopping district…

… complete with this laser that follows you across what used to be the arrival floor. This laser has always intrigued me, the fact that it obviously recognises avatars, and targets them in real time, as they move, is, for me, such a step above the usual SL physics, as to be almost astonishingly impressive.

Focus

I visited the Focus installation, this morning…

… I can’t believe this amazing work has been running for 8 months and I’ve only just found it…

… It’s possible I saw it mentioned somewhere and didn’t register it, because I’m not a huge fan of these 3D extravaganza-type builds. I usually find them needlessly confusing and, invariably, blandly repetitive…

… this is absolutely NOT the case, here. The level of gorgeous complexity here is astounding…

… and the colours are really beautiful…

… I cannot conceive how one would go about creating something this huge and complex, without it being just a chaotic nightmare…

… but this is clearly a highly structured creation…

… the stunning sum of all it’s intricate, varied parts…

… I found it never feels cluttered, or overwhelming, but always feels visually rich…

… and spatially stunning…

… there are various walkways to follow…

… but it’s not too hard to fall off them, and wind up having to fly around, exploring. You can also actually get stuck on the lower level, hitting invisible ceilings when you try to fly up, but it’s not too hard to find a way up, again…

… there’s just too much to absorb, in a single visit, although taking 247 photos certainly provided me with the material to review what I’d seen, at my leisure. D B Bailey told me he is always tinkering with it, so I’m sure coming back would be rewarded with new wonders to see…

… the visual richness, here, is magnificent…

… and I’m very glad I finally made it here (:
