Future Fossils

Today, I visited Future Fossils. The premise, here, is that of a frozen explosion, creating a ‘memory of what once was’…

… what I actually found was a powerful gravitic anomaly…

… which was destabilising pockets within the house…

… making it quite difficult to move around inside…

… without joining the various items of furniture/decor that were levitating/tumbling about in the various pockets of this anomaly…

… it got a bit disorienting…

… I was never sure which way was up; I felt like I was in a Jeremy Geddes painting, half the time.

Orange, Feint and Bone

Yesterday, I visited Orange, Feint and Bone… *edit* I have realised, since my visit here, that I forgot to use ‘shared environment’. Hence, my images of ‘Orange’, are not orange! That being said, I went back and checked to see what I’d missed, and I actually prefer my images, taken using ‘mid-day’ windlight. *edit ends*…

… this build is pure whimsy and fun…

… from some angles, it can appear a bit ramshackle/chaotic, but if you choose your sightlines with care, the crazy jumble of objects turns into wonderful elements placed with zen-like precision. I loved this big, shell-like thing…

… it’s patterning, size, and shape instantly reminded me of a Chris Foss spaceship…

… my favourite thing, here…

… was this wonderful guy! I loved his size/shape/colouring, everything, he’s perfect. The sim owner/creator, Livio Korobase, said hello to me, as he’d seen me wondering around and obviously setting up shots, I must have been there for at least half an hour at that stage. We got chatting, and I told him how much I loved this fish… and he gave me one! Totally made my day…

… I spent at least another half hour, here, setting up shots, and waiting for favourable cloud formations. Even stood in the rain to get some good shots…

… I just loved it, here. There is such a lovely balance of space/shape/placement here, when you find the magical angle to resolve it…

… such a delightful collection of seemingly disparate objects…

… that form a fantastical whole…

… I very much enjoyed myself, here (:

Cherishville

Yesterday, I visited Cherishville for the first time…

… this is a very atmospheric sim…

… an island that just oozes the sense of a bygone time, and a decrepit, rundown present…

… everything here has seen better days…

… the island itself is wonderfully brooding with it’s looming peaks and huge conifers…

… one can conjure all kinds of tales about smugglers and pirates and curses from the deep…

… or perhaps the local fishery was plundered to collapse…

… leaving these once grand homes as sad and rundown as the beached and broken boats and cars.

Su-Shi City

Today, I visited Su-Shi City

… you land in a very traditional, old Japanese setting…

… everything has a crisp, clean, almost stylised look…

… and is very pretty…

… you walk through an archway, and suddenly you are in a modern city…

… it has all the neon, but none of the grunge that these builds usually have…

… which is very refreshing…

… somewhere in the heart of the city is this stone statue of a very big, very smug kitty (:

Skye Glas

I visited Skye Glas, today…

… I’m a huge fan of the very talented Mr Bader and all that he creates…

… not only does he create and sell some of SL’s absolute best landscaping elements, as well as much else, but he has created these sanctuaries to advertise his work, but made them as free-to-visit and photograph…

… back when I was a noob with visions of using full-perms materials to create wonders that would enrich me, I had cause to ask him a few dumb questions; he was always very kind and never condescending, which, in itself always makes me like a creator…

… but, on top of that, he just creates the most amazing scenery elements…

… that I’m sure many of you will have seen in almost any decent sim build you have ever been in…

… which he has used to create this stunning, open-air sales room…

… that is a gorgeous wonder…

… all by itself (:

Stars

I visited Cica Ghost’s latest work, Stars, today…

… I was straight away struck by the gorgeous chocolate/gold palette…

… the cute golden star canopy is impossible to ignore, and below is another Cica Ghost world filled with wonderful critters…

… both big…

… and small…

… there’s a much greater feeling of wide-open space here, compared to her other stuff. I also found the whole thing feels more ‘industrial’ than her previous worlds, still very organic, but, somehow, more industrial, almost ‘Steampunk’, even, though only very loosely, and filtered through Cica Ghost’s wonderful mind… perhaps ‘Surreal Steampunk’?…

… I never leave one of her worlds without checking the shore, out. I managed to find a tiny island, a little way from the shore…

… where I could delight in the star canopy meeting the horizon.

Neverland

Yesterday, I visited Neverland

… this is a pretty sim, which is made up of several small tableau…

… each a little bundle of colour and charm…

… a wonderful place for whimsical photography…

… wistful, even…

… like J G Ballard meets Disney…

… I think this little bridge crosses into another sim…

… but it’s just as dreamlike.
