Backdrops

Maison de L’amitié is a collection of photographic backdrops…

… loosely strung together…

… the overall impression is of ‘gritty grunge’…

… but it’s a very tidy, safe kind of urban decay…

… with lots of colour…

… and shapes and textures…

… which make for detail-rich imagery.

In just under a week, my human will undergo a 7 hour surgical procedure… with a 16% chance of dying on the operating table. If the human survives that, there will be 1-2 weeks in intensive care, with a high chance of several life-threatening complications. If the human survives that, there will be 6 months, minimum, of recovery.

At the least, there will be no posts, here, for a few weeks, as of next week… at the worst, this blog will stop.

Stairs and Bridges

Infinite Darkness has a beautiful palette…

… that makes for wonderful, graphic novel-like scenes…

… this is an environment of bridges and stairs…

… which lead to various, equally mist-enshrouded…

… parts of the build. All great for photographic fun…

… we startled this little black cat so badly, she froze on the spot…

… as we climbed higher, through the rain, we hoped the little black cat was better…

… and then we were at the top, feeling like characters in a graphic novel.

This is a very abbreviated account of our exploration, here, there’s lots to see, even a tunnel to Hell.

Over the Balcony

From the balcony of our apartment in Hangars Liquides…

… we can jump straight into a graphic novel-like scifi futurescape…

… a perfect place for us to stroll…

… amid vast, echoing halls of brutalist grandeur…

… where any kind of broken, repressive stuff could be happening…

… but, usually, it’s too wet for that…

… and everyone stayed home…

… everyone stayed home.

Roof Gallery

We recently visited this exhibition at ‘The Annex of Nitroglobus Roof Gallery‘…

… this is a lush, rich-hued presentation, both the space, and the work…

… there’s a demented cat…

… whose antics took my attention from these beautiful works, but only for a little while…

… this is a sumptuously appointed gallery space, the space as much a part of the experience as the work, which is always nice…

… I always appreciate the amount of work, especially attention to fine-tuned detail that goes into setting up an installation like this…

… it helps if the work is as beautiful as these are (:

Ghost

We visited the ‘The Ghost Has No Name’ exhibition, at the ‘Artsville Galleries‘, recently…

… we really liked both the space, and the work…

… beautiful, dream-Rorschach-like imagery…

… we liked them all. They are very reasonably priced, but there was no way we could sensibly buy all of them, so we settled for four…

… the gallery has an upstairs ‘party’ space, and a lovely courtyard…

… the courtyard is kinda zen…

… the ‘party’ space is kinda industrial…

… we totally enjoyed the time we spent, here (:

Waiting Life

‘Hmmm… dreaming I’m waiting in a hallway’…

… ‘aww, your’e in my dream, too, sweetheart’…

… ‘how do you know you’re not in mine?’, she coyly replied…

… ‘that’s a very valid question, my little Lepidoptera’, I answered…

… ‘perhaps we’re really here?’, she then asked…

… ‘yes, I think we are.’…

… ‘It’s a very nice dream, if that’s what it is.’ She said…

… ‘It sure is, my little love.’…

… ‘oh, look, here comes the end…’

Prop Play

It’s been years since I got so desperate for new, interesting locations, that I played around with photographic prop backdrops. This staircase is something that always draws me to it in builds, so when I saw it was on sale for half price, recently, I went and grabbed it, and we set it up on my blank-slate sky platform. I added one of my Midjourney works for the backdrop to the backdrop…

… and proceeded to play…

… the world has turned strange, weird things are afoot, these are troublous times…

… it’s best just to go with the flow…

… make sure you are as fit and healthy as you can be…

… freaking out about the magnitude of what’s happening is counter-productive…

… wow!… shouldn’t have looked back…

… it’s ok to freak out a little bit…

… then just get it together…

… and move forward…

… what’s next?
