Space Girls

Two girls have stopped on a shelf on an asteroid to enjoy the view…

… one is a cybernetic butterfly from the future who doesn’t need oxygen to function, and the other is a 4,000 year old being from the edge of the universe who metabolises her oxygen needs via a wormhole-like link to her mother, who is actually a sentient planet, so neither girl is bothered by the vacuum of space…

… they are out sightseeing in their new ride…

… although they are telepathically linked, the humanoid one sometimes verbalises what she says to her little companion, whose answers are only heard by her…

… ‘Well, this is pretty, isn’t it, sweetheart?’ she says.

Digital Collage

I am showing some new work at Placebo Gallery, the show is called ‘Digital Collage’, which is what this new work is…

… these are my interpretation of ‘collage’. Like traditional collage, all the materials are ‘found’ images, not my own photography, nor that of my human…

… apart from a small amount of blending, I’ve deliberately kept the technique to that of ‘cut and paste’, though, these being done in gorgeous Photoshop, I’d be silly not to use the ‘blend’ ability occasionally, which is why these are ‘digital’ collages, because aspects of them would be impossible with cut/torn and pasted paper…

… the images range from quite dark to quite light-hearted…

…the light-hearted ones were fun…

… which isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy doing the darker ones, either (:

Going SomeWhere

Flutter and I recently visited Cica Ghost’s ‘Somewhere‘…

… I was straight away struck by the completely different palette here, from Ghost’s previous work… it’s basically greys, instead of browns/greens, and the sky is nothing like the usual, seemingly aquatic skies… I really liked it…

… the whole place is a desolate wasteland, really…

… but there is enough ubiquitous Cica Ghost cuteness to prevent the place from being depressing…

… it’s a gorgeous, whimsical wasteland…

… there’s just the right balance of cuteness/darkness/bleakness, to make this more of a contemplative environment than a dark one…

… this is my favourite Cica Ghost build, now. She is a very prolific artist, and I like the way her work has evolved, lately…

… we enjoyed wondering around this landscape, giving space to all the other contemplative wonderers (:

The Dream Ends… perhaps…

Something was forming in the mist ahead of us…

‘It’s our place’ Flutter excitedly squeaked “It does seem to be, sweetheart’ I replied, secretly delighted she’d said ‘our’…

… everything was still shrouded in mist, and my (our) familiar home grounds seemed unmoored, and adrift…

… nothing felt quite right…

… ‘Look, the seahorse sculpture is in a different place…’ said Flutter…

… as we climbed the steps, we could see that, not only had the sculpture been moved…

… there was a new water feature…

… a new raised garden, new statues…

… ‘I’ve never seen this entire area’ whispered Flutter “Me, neither, darling’ I replied…

… ‘It’s very pretty’ Flutter commented…

… ‘It sure is, just the kind of thing I’d build’ I answered. ‘Lets keep it, then’ she suggested…

… and, just like that, we both woke up, and we had a new area in our garden.

Still Dreaming

But the dream wasn’t over…

… the sound of the roaring surf grew suddenly silent, replaced by gently lapping, barely moving water, a bare murmur on hissing sand…

… we were on a beach dotted with large boxes, still shrouded in mist. It was still very quiet, except for the gently lapping sea…

… ‘Are YOU in MY dream, or are we dreaming together?’ I asked Flutter…

… ‘Well, as YOU seem to be in MY dream, I’d say were are, indeed, dreaming together…’ mused Flutter…

… ‘Look, what’s that up there?’ she asked.

Dream of Memento mori

Last night I dreamed that Flutter and I were exploring Memento mori

… everything was shrouded in mist, and silent…

… it was so quiet that I could hear Flutters wing strokes…

… ‘Where are we going, Seri?’ she asked me…

… ‘I think this is it.’ I replied…

… there was a growing roar, like distant waves crashing on a rocky shore that was somehow drawing closer…

… ‘The dream is over.’ said Flutter.

CandyLand

My mechanical Flutterbye and I visited ‘Pride CandyLand‘, yesterday. This place is like Willy Wonka on acid!…

… there is a chocolate stream running through a chocolate landscape, with chocolate trees… it is all incredibly saccharin, in a cute way, of course, but, still, sugary enough to induce a mental toothache…

… the chocolate area is the exception, though, everything else is, of course, rainbow, candy colours…

… pink (one of my favourite colours!) being everywhere…

… of course, there’s a beautiful rainbow…

… and the sky is gorgeous…

… really gorgeous, and far more surreal than any Willy Wonka sky…

… this is a sweet, joyous destination, and it’s quite big, too, and fun to explore (:
