Posh Event

As you will know, I don’t usually, well, don’t think I’ve actually ever, blog/blogged a sales event… but, I was recently shopping, and was greeted by Poshbarby, who is the first avi to ever physically recognise me from my blog! We had a conversation about blogging, and she told me how hard it was to get coverage from bloggers for her shop, she even asked if I would blog about it. I told her that that wasn’t my thing, but I gave her the name of a blogger who did do fashion and stores, and I even gave her name to the blogger…

… that was a few weeks ago, and I’d kinda forgotten about it, when I visited the ‘Posh Event‘, today, and was greeted by… Poshbarby, who organises/runs this event! Once again, she told me what a struggle it is, in SL, to get coverage. As someone thoroughly disillusioned with the politics of the SL art world, and of how any kind of recognition/coverage comes down to who, not what you know, I totally understood what she was saying…

… so I decided to do a blog about ‘Posh Event’. I have nothing but admiration for the amount of work organising events in SL must involve. Poshbarby is a sweety, very approachable, as so many in SL simply are not, so I just wanted to do my little bit to help her…

… the event runs from the 1st to the 17th of each month. There’s all kinds of stuff, here, lots of apparel, but, also, a range of other stuff…

… with some things discounted…

… all in a clean-lined, well-lit venue (:

Winter Sun

It’s been a few months since Flutter and I spent much time, activated, in SL. In the last few weeks, the human has allowed us to be ourselves, again (thank you, human!). As we do, when we’ve been denied existence for any length of time, we go…shopping! We’ve hit all the best regular events, and are already adorned in some of our newly acquired, comfy loot. We arrived, last evening, at a destination that mainly sells tattoos, looking for that rare, new piece of good ink to fit on our already well-inked body…

… we didn’t find that rare piece, but we noticed, outside the store, the ice-coated trees, in a clear, crisp, winter day…

… we love stores that the owners have gone to the extra effort of beautifully landscaping, and we often roam around in them, taking pictures…

… there was a very fine, slow fall of snow, there was no wind…

… we were warm and cosy in our new fur jacket (if I’m warm, Flutter is too, by the magical osmosis of our psychic connection)…

… we climbed down a few steep banks, heading back toward the sea we’d initially arrived beside…

… all the while bathed in the light of the winter sun.

New Apartment at Hangars Liquides

Flutter and I took posession of our new apartment, in the rebuilt Hangars Liquides, the other day…

… it is more spacious than our previous HL apartment was…

… the style is instantly recognisable as Djehan Kidd’s amazing work

… of course, the first thing we did was put up pictures. We chose cyber-influenced work to match the surroundings…

… we had a coffee break… well, Flutter doesn’t actually drink coffee, but she enjoys the smell, and feels left out if I don’t pour her a cup, too…

… then continued our work…

… we are very happy with the look/style we have created, here…

… no home of ours is complete without a generous helping of cuteness, of course…

… we’ve already, since I shot this post, made some changes… this glass enclosure now has one of Djehan’s gorgeous bathtubs in it, and the plants have been reshuffled, just leaving one in with the tub…

… the bedroom is tiny, but very cosy, like a cabin in a spaceship (:

Earendel Rising

The first thing that struck us, when we arrived at Earendel Rising, was the brobdingnagian scale of the place…

… this ‘building’ is like some Third Reich lunatics acid dream… we hardly saw any other avi’s here, but the ones we did see were always huddled around the few actual people-scaled places…

… the upper levels are vaguely places a living being might feel comfortable…

… but, historically, and certainly psychologically…

… this kind of architectural scale is designed to awe, if not to straight out intimidate…

… this is a place for giants and megalomaniacs…

… not for tiny beings…

… I’m not running it down…

… it’s a wonderful build…

… but the size is overwhelming…

… it’s not really a ‘building’…

… it’s more of a massive, tiered plaza…

… multiple, stacked, pseudo-classical/brutalist spaces…

… where people go…

… to feel small, and insignificant. Still, as I said, it’s a spectacular build, and definitely worth a visit, so you can make up your own mind about whether you feel comfortable, or irrelevant, here.

Currently at Soho

Currently, hung in my Soho gallery, are 8 images from my ‘Dream Fashion’ series…

… I really love these images…

… I love the rich detail…

… the lush palette…

… but what I like most…

… is the feeling of tranquility….

… and even bliss…

… that I get from these beautiful images.

Panjin

Yesterday, Flutterbye and I visited beautiful Panjin

… this is a wonderfully minimalist build…

… apparently based on a real location in China…

… it is mostly a vast sea of red plants…

… with just a few, perfectly placed objects…

… if you know me, you know I adore this type of scenery…

… the vast red plant field leads down to a small beach, into which several streams also flow from the red acres…

… apart from the red ground cover, it is very similar to any tidal estuary/plane my human has encountered in New Zealand, so we would imagine that high tide would cover this red verdancy…

… hence the boardwalk… the red growth must look amazing beneath the water…

… we stood and watched the frozen sunset…

… our back to a Martian field, in a world eternally approaching twilight.

Kaleidoscope – Monarch Education Project

As a way of making up for my recent neglect of her, I took my sweet little Lepidoptera to Kaleidoscope

… which is a sanctuary for beautiful Monarch butterflies…

… and an educational resource…

… Flutter was delighted, she kept whispering ‘sisters…’, she knows they can’t hear her, I think she was just marvelling at so many similar, beautiful, fluttering creatures in one place…

… we ambled through the tidy walkways…

… everywhere the glory of these amazing creatures, the soft rustle of thousands of tiny wings…

… there is a cave behind this waterfall for you to explore…

… at the foot of the waterfall are happy critters…

… my baby and I had a lovely time here…

… and I’m pretty sure she’s forgiven me (:

Natthimmel

I decided it has been far too long since I took Flutter exploring…

… so I took her to Natthimmel

… ‘Isn’t this pretty, sweetheart?’ I asked her…

… she pretended not to hear. She only does that when she’s pissed at me…

… ‘Aww, baby, come here!’ I crooned, trying to catch her for butterfly cuddles, but she wouldn’t come close enough…

… ‘I’m sorry, my darling, I didn’t mean to leave you alone for so long’ I said…

… she still didn’t answer, but she came closer to me…

… eventually she whispered ‘I missed you’…

… ‘I’m sorry, Flutterbye, I’ll try to spend less time in Midjourney’ I replied, feeling pretty selfish…

… after a while she said ‘Yes, Seri, it’s very pretty here’…

… I’ve been so absorbed with Mj, these past months, I’d actually forgotten how much I enjoy photographing new destinations…

… and, of course, I’d left Flutter alone, all that time. I’ll have to make it up to her (:

Before Dawn

Lizbeth Morningstar has a new exhibition at her Starborn Gallery

… the gallery, itself, is a lovely piece of light and shadow, with gold-accented transparency the overall theme…

… I would describe Lizbeth’s previous work as ‘soft-focused whimsy’, with ‘Monet-like colours’, and I love her previous work. This work, however, while still soft-focus, and still wonderfully whimsical…

… has a far richer, colour-saturated palette which, if you are familiar with my own style, is a palette I adore…

… the opening for ‘Before Dawn’ is Saturday April 15, 7am-9am SLT, there will be a DJ.
