Cadenza

When I cannot find any interesting places to explore in any of the destination guides I follow, and there really doesn’t seem to be much that interests me, right now, I go to my ‘landmarks’ folder, and, starting at the bottom, look for somewhere to go, either to rediscover somewhere fabulous, or to discover it is a vacant lot, owned by an Anshe Chung clone, in which case I delete it… the destinations at the bottom of my folder are very old, some of them 10 years old, Cadenza was almost at the bottom…

… I honestly don’t remember what it used to look like, but I wasn’t expecting this cute, whimsical landscape…

… it was very pretty, and very relaxing, except when I either walked into some area that caused my viewer to crash, or my viewer just chose that time to do so, but THAT wasn’t soothing… the last few times my viewer has crashed, when I restart it, half the recent changes I’ve made to my wardrobe are gone, and I’ve got to do them all again, which is pretty irritating…

… but, this lovely place soon soothed my ire…

… this corner looks like the toy storage area (:

Seraphim in the First Person

Hello, I’m Seraphim. When I first started this blog, nearly three years ago, now, it was called ‘Broken Hearted Avatar’. I started it as therapy for the damage that was done to me as a result of my first SL romance going horribly bad, as, I’ve since learned, they almost inevitably do…

… I was in such a shattered place, I couldn’t even bare to represent myself in the first person, it felt safer to communicate in the third person, like it was someone else’s sad little story that was unfolding. As therapy, this blog was excellent, even if it did chronicle the next several shitty relationships I then staggered through, before I learned that relationships in SL are nothing like relationships in RL, and that actual long-term ‘couple’ relationships are almost non-existent… but you have to try, and experience that, before you can grow beyond your experience. I eventually changed the name of this blog to ‘Kind Hearted Avatar’, because it was similar to ‘Broken Hearted Avatar’, in form, but totally different, and far more hopeful in meaning…

… anyway, a lot has changed for my human, and myself, in those nearly three years, and I now want to speak as myself, in the first person, so that’s what I’m going to do (:

Digital Arts Gallery Sim

Seraphim visited the new Digital Arts Gallery sim, last night. She’s not a fan of the work they always seem to show, there… she doesn’t consider RL photographs of flowers to be SL art… but she loves what they’ve done to the sim!…

… they have transformed it into an excellent scifi photo location…

… and done a really lovely job of creating the kind of scifi environment Seri really loves…

… one that is evocative of the vast distances and emptiness of space, and of the type of wistful little fringe colonies, where almost everyone has gone to the stars, seeking something/somewhere better, yet leaving behind…

… this wonderful place, with it’s fabulous vista of those stars and planets…

… and, beneath them, an environment that would be a perfectly nice place to set down roots, and stop this constant roaming.

VeGeTaL PLaNeT Gallery

Seraphim visited the VeGeTaL PLaNeT Gallery, last night…

… the current exhibition provides tons of gorgeous neon for Seri to consume with her cameras…

… most of the work is kinetic, so the space is a constantly evolving/revolving light space…

… each work revolves through it’s transitional phases, to repeat…

… the building, itself, though restfully static, is architecturally suggestive of kinetic forms…

… not all the work there is kinetic neon.

The Outer Garden

Seraphim visited ‘The Outer Garden‘, this morning. This is a mind-bogglingly complex build of layer upon layer of gorgeous detail. Seri marvelled out how much work must have gone into creating this place…

… there is so much, here, to spend time exploring…

… space, and probably time, are lavishly distorted…

… there is a constant slow dance of elements interacting, rolling, and swirling…

… there is so much to do and see…

… that it’s almost too much, certainly too much to take in in one visit.

Liquides Apartment

Seraphim loves her little Hangars Liquides apartment. She doesn’t come here as often as she’d like, but really enjoys the ambience here, when she does…

… she can snuggle in a chair and sit for hours, listening to the huge city beyond her window, and over her balcony…

… she has blogged Hangars Liquides several times, and doesn’t tend to go exploring as much as she used to…

… but this apartment is still one of her most treasured possessions. When she has snuggled for long enough inside, she will step out into the fabulous cityscape that is just over her balcony…

… and just soak up the stunning views…

… of this marvellous build.

Placebo Gallery

Seraphim, who just needs to be working on stuff, decided it was time to create another gallery, last night…

… using a pre-fab, modular component set she bought on MP, she whipped up a nice little, industrial loft-style art space in the corner of her older block of land beside the Circuit La Corse, where it runs through Jormungandr. This is just beside the plot she first build a gallery on, nine years ago. The new gallery fits in nicely with it’s landscaping…

… just in the door, she has some of her gacha for sale, gallery decoration that you can buy!…

… the building has lovely, high skylights. This look is the look she’s always gone for with the galleries she built herself, but someone of her limited building skills simply can’t compete with a fabulous mesh prefab like this one, as far as prims are concerned, and just the ease of construction…

… the theme of her new exhibition is ‘Seraphim Placebo, Explorer’, and highlights some of her favourite images from her exploration posts…

… she’s still tinkering with her new space…

… but, she’s pretty happy with it (:

Drune Iteration

Seraphim visited the latest manifestation of Drune, today…

… there was the usual proliferation of gorgeous neon…

… and atmosphere of cyber-sleaze…

… with plenty of images to keep adolescent asian males awake for hours…

… but, a lot of this build felt more thoughtful, than previous builds, somehow more introspective. This gorgeous BladeRunneresque, Gieger-themed bar interior…

… was, by far, the most sophisticated, elegant, and perfect interior she can ever remember seeing in a Drune build.

PlayRoom

Seraphim calls this her ‘playroom’. This is where she unpacks all her latest gacha treasures, where she fixes old, broken gacha she finds, and where she has some of her favourite things…

… it’s a cosy mess…

… where she feels very comfortable just puttering around with her stuff…

… she has a lot of ‘stuff’. Most of the rooms in her house are far more disciplined than this in their decoration, usually adhering to a very distinct ‘style’, even if it is ‘Seri-style’…

… the only real style here is ‘super-eclectic-Seri-Style’…

… and fun (:
