New Project; Day 3

Day3

Seraphim has been spending hours and hours happily pottering with her latest project…

Day3b

… unlike all her previous ‘still life’ installations, which have not really been representative of anywhere Seri would live, this one has, by itself, become quite evocative of Seri’s own ‘style’…

Day3c

… it wasn’t deliberate, just happened.

31 Revisited

100L

Seraphim revisited her floor in the ‘100 Levels’ project, this morning, to see how it’s developing… there are now 29 floors above hers, these are some of her favourites…

100L2

100L3

100L4

100L5

… several of the new floors have audio, and the place is now a babel of sounds, a mixture of meowing cats, splashing water, 1920’s French music, and a loud, steady heartbeat, among other sounds.

13

13

There are now 13 more floors above Seraphims in the 100 floors project…

13a

… Seri is delighted to be able, once again, to stand on her own balcony. The phantom balcony thing between her and the girl from the floor below, Ututu Davi, has been sorted. Seri isn’t sure if it’s because of the graphics she sent Ututu, depicting the fact the balcony was phantom, or if it was from enlisting Kowloon management to talk to her but, despite the language barrier, things got sorted. Ututu sent her an IM, in English, apologising, and thanking Seraphim for ‘teaching’ her. This delighted Seri… She could not have done the same for Ututu in Ututu’s language, so was impressed Ututu had made the effort…

13b

… Ututu has made some tweaks to her floor…

13c

…Seri loves this installation, even more than the one below…

13d

… her two favourite floors are the two just below hers (:

Hedgehogs

HedgeHogs

Seraphim returned to floor 31, this evening, and added two of her super-cute D-LAB hedgehogs, she really loves these little guys, and feels they are perfect for this space…

HedgeHogs2

… there are already six more floors above Seri’s floor…

HedgeHogs3

… all of them filled with wonderful scenes…

HedgeHogs4

… the girl from the floor below Seraphim seems to have finished her little scene…

HedgeHogs5

… and it’s really beautiful. Seraphim can’t figure out why that girl has set her balcony, part of which is Seraphim’s landing, to ‘phantom’, making it impossible for anyone to stand outside Seri’s door, but hopes to resolve the issue, despite the language barrier… to which end she has enlisted the help of Magnum Yoshikawa, the ‘Head Carpenter’ of Kowloon. Despite this small, odd problem, Seraphim thinks that ‘Cuneiform Girl’ is very talented, and has created one of the better scenes in this installation. The floor below Cuneiform Girl’s floor has, probably, Seraphim’s favourite setup, so far…

HedgeHogs6

… it’s wonderfully spartan, contains just a wall switch, a fluorescent light, a table and chair, and this absolutely gorgeous little model kit…

HedgeHogs7

… Seraphim marvels at the delicate beauty of this scale model Honda, 1960’s racing bike. As the prim allotment for these displays is only 20, this creation must be, given all the other items in the room, 15 at the most… which is astonishing. Back in the day, not only would something this delicate have been all but impossible in SL, it would have been hundreds of prims…

HedgeHogs8

… Seraphim loves everything about this display, it’s simplicity, it’s zen-like representation of an almost monastic focus on a hobby, the wonder of the model being made in SL, and the sheer beauty of this old machine, which is basically a frighteningly over-powered bicycle! Unfortunately, if you click on anyone else’s objects in these displays, you only see the details for the entire unit and everything in it, in other words, you get no specifics, so Seri has no idea who makes these beautiful model kits in SL… she’s tried searching MP for this model, but had no luck. She would LOVE one of these on one of her shelves, at home!

31

31

This morning, Seraphim got the group invite needed to place the unit she’d purchased, yesterday (L$60!) for the second ‘Hundred Floors’ project at Kowloon. She went and placed her unit… it looked like the girl in the unit below had just done the same thing… both girls had their blank canvases to fill with 20 prims of their choosing. Seri said ‘hello’ to her neighbour, the neighbour said ‘hi’, followed by a few words in what looked like Persian cuneiform script, to Seri… Seri replied ‘Sorry, I only understand English’, to which her neighbour replied an equally long sentence in cuneiform, and that was the end of that conversation…

31a

… Seri’s unit is number 31. Each unit consists of the unit, with some elements of the back stairs, which interlock with the unit below’s stairs, and form part of the next unit’s stairs…

31b

… a prerequisite of being part of the project is to not block the stairs, so any avi that chooses can walk up them… something that would take time and determination, even in SL. You can walk into any unit to explore the many wonders the participants have created…

31c

… inspiration hit Seri before her neighbour, and she went with her favourite poppy-grass on the floor…

31d

… cuneiform girl was seconds behind with some cute, Asian statues…

31e

… running with the bucolic theme (Seri isn’t a concrete jungle kid) she placed a gorgeous painting bought recently, and one of her favourite skulls, and a potted shrub…

31f

… her neighbour was playing with water…

31g

… she seemed to be enjoying herself. Seri sent her a smile of encouragement, but was ignored… oh, well, Seri always tries to be friendly, because she IS fucking friendly, but is often rebuffed… no matter, it doesn’t bother her anymore…

31h

… she added one of her oldest benches, a Yelly Donut (Noctis) creation , and a slatted wooden blind…

31i

… and she was done! She still has about 5 prims she can add… or she could change it all, but this mornings effort was fun, and she’s happy with it. By the time she’d finished, the Persian was gone, so Seri took the opportunity to go and explore her place, then the one below, and the one below… there are many fascinating creations to explore, here… but that’s another post! If you want to check Seri’s effort, it’s here… you’ll arrive on the landing outside her door*.

*… except that cuneiform girl has somehow set the part of her unit, which is Seri’s landing, to ‘phantom’, so you, or Seri, for that matter, can no-longer stand at Seri’s own back door… makes it tricky to get inside, when you land outside Seri’s door, you fall through the landing and wind up outside HER door ):

Seri has sent her an image of her landing, activated in ‘edit’, showing the edit dialogue box, with ‘phantom’ circled in red… hopefully this might get around the language barrier.

Simple Christmas

SimpleX

Seraphim took down the 3 storey building she used for her last still-life setup, and replaced it with this very cute ‘Love Chapel’…

SimpleX2

… last Christmas she set up her first-ever Christmas tree, having never really gotten into the festivities in SL, before…

SimpleX3

… this Christmas, she has so many props for Christmas setups, she has settled on doing some ‘themes’…

SimpleX4

… this one is ‘simple Christmas’, nothing fancy…

SimpleX5

… just really sweet…

SimpleX6

… cute…

SimpleX7

… simple Christmas joy (:

Eclectic Whimsy IV

WhimsyIV

This is the last instalment in the ‘Eclectic Whimsy’ series…

WhimsyIV2

… although she’s pleased with the little fantasy world she created, here, the shoot took far longer than she had intended…

WhimsyIV3

… it’s been a learning curve about the parameters of setting up such a shoot…

WhimsyIV4

… she won’t get so carried away, next time…

WhimsyIV5

… that being said, she very much enjoyed setting up this little world…

WhimsyIV6

… a world she would happily live in…

WhimsyIV7

… a world where everything is cute, adorable, beautiful and whimsical…

WhimsyIV8

… and where there is art and cleverness everywhere (:

Eclectic Whimsy

EclecticWhimsy

Seraphim feels she was both successful and unsuccessful with her latest project. She thoroughly enjoyed the several days of tinkering it took to create this scene, and she is equally pleased with the result…

EclecticWhimsy2

… however, it was her plan to then do the whole thing in one, eight shot shoot…

EclecticWhimsy3

… but she has made the whole scene so delightfully detail-rich…

EclecticWhimsy4

… that her eight-shot maximum…

EclecticWhimsy5

… barely got her in the front door…

EclecticWhimsy6

… before all the glorious detail ensnared her camera…

EclecticWhimsy7

… and she didn’t even complete shooting the first floor…

EclecticWhimsy8

… and there are two more to go!
