Drune: East of Eden

Drune

Today, Seraphim visited the latest Drune iteration. The first thing she noticed was her profile picture, without her permission, up on the over-head display… she couldn’t care less, but found the lack of etiquette pretty disappointing…

Drune2

… the sim was, like previous Drune sims, a glory of neon eye-candy…

Drune3

… also, like the previous Drunes, there was the juvenile obsession with sexual themes…

Drune4

… as though the sim was built by genius 13 year-old boys…

Drune5

… whose sophisticated visual aesthetic was continually over-ridden by their desire to masturbate…

Drune6

… but, when she thought about it, Seri had to admit that this is a fairly common phenomenon in SL…

Drune7

… and, that if you have to have sims built by wankers…

Drune8a

… the wankers might as well be genius 13 year-old boys.

Granny’s Life

GL

Seraphim continues to enjoy creating little still life tableau…

GL2

… it has proven a very effective way of re-establishing knowledge of the contents of her vast inventory…

GL3

… but she also enjoys coming up with a new theme each time. She’ll think of a theme, then try to remember what she has that she could use for the shoot… it often takes a long time to find items she thinks she has, and, along the way, she finds lots of forgotten stuff, and stuff that she thinks ‘cool! I can use that next time!’…

GL4

… she also finds landmarks to really cool stores she hasn’t visited for ages, so, the downside is she’s spending quite a bit, recently, especially on gacha, trying to win specific items she’d like to incorporate in her next creation…

GL5

… she recently spent L$2000 trying to win a certain object, and, not only didn’t win it, but DID win a whole lot of useless crap… she usually has MUCH better luck with gacha…

GL6

… still, it hasn’t dampened her enjoyment of her new-found hobby…

GL7

… and she’s already looking forward to her next creation…

Still Life with Grenade

StillLifeWithGrenade

Seraphim, whose style/interests are continually evolving, felt like trying something totally new… obviously, the desire must have been percolating for a while, but it hadn’t been a conscious one, she just suddenly thought it would be interesting to try one of those cool still-life/tableau shots so many excellent SL photographers do. Seraphim has always liked those works by others, but never felt the desire to make one, herself, mainly because she was totally into gynoid photography. Anyway, she decided to try one. Seraphim has a ton of beautiful treasures and dozens of photography backdrops from which to choose, so she set about creating one of these works…

StillLifeWithGrenade2

… the first thing she found was something she had always suspected; these pieces take a LOT of work! The second thing she found was… it’s REALLY enjoyable! She found setting this shot up to be almost zen-like in it’s need for attention to composition/detail/content. The third thing she found was that, she may never have done one of these before, but she’s still herself, and her tastes are still slightly less mainstream than other peoples…

StillLifeWithGrenade3

… she couldn’t keep her dark humour out of this shot, and didn’t try. There is no deep message in this work, it is just a composition that evolved organically, as Seraphim placed objects that came to mind, thinking ‘what would go with that?’ at each new placement/slight rearrangement…

StillLifeWithGrenade4

… she also found she could not do a single, complete shot… her love of closeup photography, and her love of the 6-8 image post format she usually does, over-ruled the single shot concept…

StillLifeWithGrenade5

… and that was fine, she was having a LOT of fun…

StillLifeWithGrenade6

… this is just the first of this new style, expect more (:

Little Fox – Fox Road

Fox

Yesterday, Seraphim visited the ‘Liaison Collaborative’ event, and bought this gorgeous ‘Anita’ sweater, by ‘Little Fox’, which goes perfectly with her new ‘Astralia’ pants, like they were made for each other. The picture in the display for the sweater showed the models wearing some very nice pants, which Seraphim coveted, so she TP’d to the ‘Little Fox’ showroom… where she discovered that, not only did she already own the pants, but she’d been here, before, possibly to buy the pants, and that, next to the showroom, was the Fox Road sim, which Seraphim had explored, and adored, previously…

Fox2

… once again, she was drawn to explore this empty, artful sim…

Fox3

… Seraphim loves these arty, set-like builds…

Fox6

… where the builder has set up tableaux that can be used as props/backgrounds…

Fox7

… she finds this one strangely poignant, with it’s implication of hasty abandonment…

Fox8

… the whole sim, of course, feels as though it is in the aftermath of some mass-extermination event… Seraphim quite likes these empty sims.

Ethereal

cyberfae

Seraphim visited Ethereal, today. One of the first things she saw, after noticing the gorgeous colours…

cyberfae2

… was this absolutely adorable greeter-bot…

cyberfae3

… it was by far the cutest bot Seraphim has seen, so cute she wished it was a real avi, so she could tell it how sweet it was…

cyberfae4

… what Seraphim saw of the Ethereal sim was a psychedelic kaleidoscope of colour and gorgeous, alien foliage…

cyberfae5

… it was all like a faerie’s dream…

cyberfae6

… very soothing and pretty.

ChatuChak

ChatuChak

After reading Alexa’s recent post on ChatuChak, yesterday, Seraphim decided to have a look, too…

ChatuChak2

… you arrive in one of those colourful, Asian markets, where trains run dangerously close through the marketplace…

ChatuChak3

… following the rails takes you out of the first market, which is mostly manufactured items, into the woods, and onto a bridge, where the train appears to have stalled before a tunnel…

ChatuChak4

… just before the bridge, there is a path down through the rocks and trees…

ChatuChak5

… that brings you to the equally colourful produce market, on the docks…

ChatuChak6

… which are piled with delicious, fresh produce…

ChatuChak7

… birds wheel about the docks… there are no people… this gives the place the feel of having been suddenly deserted, like, only minutes/hours before…

ChatuChak8

… Seraphim wondered what could have caused everyone to vanish… was she walking amongst an invisible, deadly viral contagion? Not being human, and immune to anything deadly to humans, she wasn’t too worried… was the place highly radioactive? She didn’t have a gieger counter on her, so couldn’t check… again, radiation isn’t something she worries about… the birds seemed active enough. Anyway, she got some nice pictures (:

Busy Day

Busy Day

Seraphim had a productive day, today. She hung her latest work in her new ‘Dream’ series in her gallery, this one is called ‘Shore of Dreams’, and she hung it next to ‘View From a Dream’. She has also hung these images in the Montmartre gallery, but she’s not sure what’s happening with that, yet, as the owner seems fairly non-communicative after her initial friendliness, or perhaps she’s just too busy to reply to Seraphim’s IM’s, Seri isn’t sure…

Busy Day2

… Seraphim loves seeing her work this size, having worked on it on a computer screen, it’s like giving life to the image to see it bigger than herself on a wall…

Busy Day3

… she spent some time looking at one of her pictures of Tee… it almost seems like another lifetime ago, that she hung out with Gynoids, and basically lived to photograph them, it feels like that part of her life is over, now…

Busy Day4

… from her gallery, she went to the Culprit mainstore, in search of something she’d seen in one of Inara Pey’s post’s. She’d just arrived there, when the above avi, Rei2 Aya, TP’d in beside her. Seraphim always notices cute avi’s, and usually takes a few pictures of them, and often checks their profile, to get a feel for whether they would mind her saying ‘hi’ to them… to Seri’s delight, when she checked Rei2’s profile, she discovered that Rei2 was the owner of R2 Fashion! Although she never wears it, herself, Seraphim adores R2 Fashion’s work, and has bought several outfits for her Gynoid girlfriends. Seraphim complimented Rei2 on her cute outfit, not really expecting a reply, but was pleasantly surprised that the two of them had a very nice conversation, where Seraphim was equally pleased at herself for not fawning/grovelling over someone of such talent!…

Busy Day5

… the reason Seraphim went to Culprit was to buy this Moonwalker she had seen in Inara’s post…

Busy Day6

… Seraphim loves Culprit stuff, and has a lot of it. The Moonwalker was not only really cute, but, at L$100, an extremely good buy. After that, after reading about ChatuChak in one of Alexa’s posts, she went there, but that will have to be a whole seperate post, as she took lots of pictures…

Busy Day7

… after ChatuChak, she went to the Hello Kitty 45th Anniversary by Astralia event, where she bought two outfits, a pink and a black one, mainly for the gorgeous pants…

Busy Day8

… which have ‘Hello Kitty’ down the seams. Seraphim’s kitten-in-a-balloon meowed her approval as she drifted by (:
