Frame Not Included

FrameNotIncluded09072018_0001

Seraphim visited the Monocle Man Gallery, today. She seldom visits galleries, any more…

FrameNotIncluded09072018_0002

… those of you who have known Seri for a long time will remember she used to have a huge gallery, housing her equally huge collection of art by SL artists. Seraphim loves art, and loved collecting SL art, which she did, prolifically, for 8 years, spending tens of thousands of L$’s on her collecting…

FrameNotIncluded09072018_0003

… she did it, not only because she loves art, but to support SL art/artists… she had several favourite artists who charged thousands of lindens for each and every painting, Seraphim bought them all, even when she could barely afford to…

FrameNotIncluded09072018_0004

… she eventually had to admit to herself, that perhaps only 1 or 2 of these artists she was supporting, EVER contacted her, to say thank you…

FrameNotIncluded09072018_0005

… not only that, when she eventually met some of them, their self-entitled arrogance appalled her, not to mention that some of them literally talked down to her, as though they were her superiors…

FrameNotIncluded09072018_0006

… she seldom goes to the galleries of these people, any more, and seldom buys SL art.

Dya’s Abandoned Vacation Spot

Dya's Abandoned Vacation Spot1

Seraphim visited Dya’s Abandoned Vacation Spot, today… the place was fairly packed, snuggling couples and wandering explorers everywhere, she’s not used to those kind of numbers when she explores, she’s also not into de-rendering other avi’s, so it was a bit tricky getting good angles for good shots, but, she managed. The place has very nice, broody beach scenes…

Dya's Abandoned Vacation Spot2

… there’s an inland element, of bucolic lanes…

Dya's Abandoned Vacation Spot3

… but it was the shore scenes that Seri liked…

Dya's Abandoned Vacation Spot4

… a lovely feel of odd emptiness, that post-apocalyptic-event feel that SL creators do so well…

Dya's Abandoned Vacation Spot5

… a delightful sombreness…

Dya's Abandoned Vacation Spot6

… a place where all manner of strangeness could have happened/be happening…

Dya's Abandoned Vacation Spot7

… birds wheeling in an odd sky, the only witnesses to where all the people went.

The Worst Lag

Tralala

Seraphim has found no really photo-worthy destinations to visit, recently. She’s gone to several she would not normally have visited, because they looked better than having nowhere to go, but has not found any with more than one or two decent scenes. She decided to go back to Tralala’s Diner, again, in hopes the horrific lag she has always encountered there, might have lessened…

Tralala2

… on arrival, she saw that there was a new landing area…

Tralala3

… a beautifully textured little gazebo, with a piano…

Tralala4

… the lag, however, was instantly so horrendous, she couldn’t even turn from one side of the room, to look at the other, without it becoming a major exercise in guessing how many times to click the arrow key, without the end result being facing where she started from… it took multiple efforts just to get out the door, having to get exactly lined up with it, then even getting out it, while it was open, before it closed in her face, due to the lag. Taking the picture she wanted was also nearly impossible, because the lag effected her camera, too… she gave up just after she actually managed to get out the door. Tralala is a beautiful place, a photographers dream, but it is also THE most laggy sim Seraphim has ever visited, which just destroys any enjoyment in visiting it, sadly.

Mopire Again

MopireRevis

Seraphim visited her favourite sim, again, yesterday, the Mopire City/Tokyo-WindHill City/Reiri Town sprawl. She adores this amazing build, for it’s mysterious, un-attainable far riverbank…

MopireRevis2

… for it’s industrial/wild near shore…

MopireRevis3

… with it’s rugged public space…

MopireRevis4

… for the way the wild area morphs into the commercial area…

MopireRevis5

… where there is still plenty of nature. This area morphs into the huge…

MopireRevis6

… concrete landscape of the Tokyo-WindHill City/Mopire City area, with it’s stunning detail, and, in Mopire City, huge buildingscape…

MopireRevis7

… Seraphim never tires of coming here, the place never ceases to blow her mind with it’s meticulous detail and ridiculously high standard of construction. She highly recommends you visit here… this is SL, the place might be gone, tomorrow!

Another Fairy Tale

FairyTale

Seraphim visited ‘Another Fairy Tale‘, this evening… Cica Ghost seems to be really smashing them out, lately…

FairyTale2

… the colours are really beautiful, with that sub-aquatic lighting that Cica Ghost seems to favour…

FairyTale3

… whimsical critters in pools of light…

FairyTale4

… and plants that look as though Salvador Dali and Hieronymus Bosch designed them together, one night, after they’d both taken acid…

FairyTale5

… the only thing Seraphim disliked were the ugly little, flying face creatures, which seemed always to bomb her carefully setup shots, just as she was about to take a picture… she actually had to photoshop out the one that invaded this picture.

Whale Graveyard

WhaleGraveyard

During her weekend SL perambulations, this morning, Seraphim found a small, flying whale graveyard…

WhaleGraveyard2

… three of those flying whales that were so trendy a year or so ago (Seraphim has one, too!) were dead on the ground, somehow turned to stone…

WhaleGraveyard3

… inert, and overgrown…

WhaleGraveyard4

… a town had sprung up around them, no doubt capitalising on this incredibly haunting place.

100 Levels!

Finished100

The 100 Levels project recently achieved it’s goal…

Finished100a

… Magnum Yoshikawa announced the building would stay up until the 22 of March, so there’s still time to go to Kowloon and see this wonderful, collaborative construction piece… Seraphim found that the last 20 floors seemed to be a bit bland, like people had run out of ideas, but she still found a few she quite liked…

Finished100a1

… they tended to be fairly whimsical…

Finished100a1a

… Seraphim likes whimsy…

Finished100a1a1

… she popped into her own unit, to check on her hedgehogs, and make sure they were ok spending a few more weeks here… they were fine, spending the day snoozing on the bench, and the night snuffling in the grass for bugs… they also still enjoyed the view, and didn’t even mind the eccentric, French music.

Shadow

Shadow

Seraphim has known Shadow as long as she’s known Pandume… Shadow and Pandume are a couple…

Shadow2

… Shadow is extremely shy, and is, in fact, a shadow… for a long time, Seraphim only ever saw her lurking, literally, in the shadows, a black, unclothed shadow…

Shadow3

… Seraphim slowly, cautiously, initiated conversation with her, and the two slowly became friends, Seraphim delighting in discovering Shadow was actually very friendly…

Shadow4

… Seri was checking out Pandume’s castle, this morning, when she saw that Shadow was there, hidden in a secret place… Seri said ‘Hello (:’, and the two got talking, eventually, Seri took Shadow (who was actually clothed, and had discernible features) to see her installation at the cafe, in Wyrd

Shadow5

… Shadow loved it (:

Little World

LW

Seraphim visited ‘Little World‘, today. Little World has several distinct areas…

LW2

… a beach area, with a horizon of glittering sky-scrapers…

LW3

… a very nice grunge/neon area…

LW4

… the avi on the bus-stop roof just stood and watched Seraphim, turning to follow her as she passed. Seri didn’t bother saying ‘hi’… sometimes, she’s just not in the mood, and, of course, the other avi never said a word…

LW5

… the neon/grunge area is very pretty. Once you traverse that, there is…

LW6

… gorgeously textured urban architecture…

LW7

… Seri has seen these buildings in other builds, but they still look beautiful, here…

LW8

… she spent a good hour, here, and took 173 photos. Little World would make a wonderful set for an urban story, even one with a scifi element, given the neon strip and the glittering cityscape on the horizon.

Lost Town

LostTown09072018_0001

Today, Seraphim visited Lost Town-La Citta’ Perduta. She hasn’t been here for a long time, possibly years. When she first visited here, she saw it as the setting for the kind of trendy, dull SL ‘art’ photos she has no interest in, and does not do. Trendy SL artists have zero interest in Seraphim’s photography. Seraphim, whose human has a degree with honours in Computer Graphic Design, knows her photography is at LEAST as good as theirs, but the SL ‘artists’ convince the SL punters that theirs is the ‘real’ art. On Seraphim’s  previous visits to this place, she wrote it off as a backdrop for trendy wanker photography. It was the textures/lighting of the above image she first saw, here, so she never really looked any further…

LostTown09072018_0002

… she totally missed all this aurora-type lighting…

LostTown09072018_0003

… and crisp background elements…

LostTown09072018_0004

… she has to admit, she shouldn’t have written the place off, just because she loathes what passes for ‘art’ photography in SL…

LostTown09072018_0005

… she thinks she got some nice shots.
